We had to travel to Monterey Park to have mechanical work done on our car. We weren't looking for luxury or anything, just needed somewhere to stay that was safe and clean and had solid internet access so we could do some work from the room at random hours. We also did not want to spend any extra money on lodging because the work on the car was going to be a few thousand dollars already. So many hotels in the LA area charge extra for internet access and parking (even self-parking) but both are included in the nightly rate at this property. The previous reviews were solid so we made a reservation for three days/two nights and came in without any expectations.
The front desk representative (Grace) and the young man working with her treated us very nicely when we arrived. We didn't expect to be able to check in early but Grace immediately said she would check if she had a king bed room ready. She did, and it was on the second floor which was what we wanted. Checkin was fast and smooth and she gave us a map with all of the restaurants and entertainment in the area. The hotel is located right in the center of an area with so many different places to eat and also right next door to an AMC theater - it was a walkable area for sure and did not seem sketchy in the least.
The room smelled super clean when we walked in and WAS super clean too - no traces at all of previous guests or any type of bug. There was very nice bedding, soft fresh white sheets and duvet - the pillows were awesome, felt like feathers - four large pillows and a couple of them were even longer than king pillows, like body-sized. The air conditioner had no problem cooling down the room at night for sleeping and was not as loud as we thought it might be from previous reviews - we were completely unaware of it turning on and off during the night. Nice flat panel television mounted on the wall but be aware that the channels are limited and the blue light at the bottom right is indeed like a beacon at night - it was easy to put something in front of it to totally block the light. The window has a sheer curtain with a heavier blackout curtain as well - the blackout curtain blocked the light from the window at night very well.
Internet access was complimentary with a password given at checkin - the speed was workable for web hangouts/video chat and downloading videos - not lightning-fast but definitely good and consistent enough to avoid having to go to an alternate site to work. No problems at all with the speed for just surfing the web - it was excellent at many different times of the day and night. It would not work well at all for streaming video, would freeze up but that was no problem for us - just be aware of this if you are staying at this property and need to work in the room and need a connection that would support streaming video or fast downloading. We were hoping that the internet problems mentioned by previous reviewers had been sorted out since then - in our experience, all was good.
There was a small table with two chairs by the window - was a decent area to work or eat in the room.
The bathroom had soft, decently thick white towels and lots of them - larger too, not the thin small towels usually found at less expensive properties. It is very nice to have the mirror and sink outside of the shower/toilet area. Good water pressure and lots of nice hot water. We did not use the bidet feature of the toilet but the heated seat was actually nice - different, but nice. There were disposable plastic cups (not glass), complimentary bottles of water and coffee packets with coffeemaker and cream/ sweeteners - also a refrigerator. The carpet seemed to be new or at least clean and in good repair.
The room isn't huge but it was definitely large enough for two of us - very quiet as well even though the hotel is situated on Atlantic Blvd which is a busier thoroughfare. We did not hear other guests showering or talking through the walls even though the hotel seemed to be fairly occupied. The room doors do open to the outside and not to an interior corridor but the rooms are all situated in sort of a horseshoe shape around the parking area so it is sort of enclosed and not as visible when you are coming and going. No views except of the parking lot (or Atlantic Blvd - some of the rooms located closer to the reception area seemed to have windows facing Atlantic as well) but we weren't expecting a view and really just wanted somewhere safe and clean - we found it.
The parking is first-come first served and does tend to fill up but we never had trouble finding a spot right below our room. Lots of accessible parking as well.
Housekeeping staff was always very friendly when we saw them in passing, although we did not use their services because we were only there two nights and just cleaned up after ourselves. They respected the "do not disturb" sign which is a very important thing for us for sure.
We did not go down for the complimentary breakfast and did not use the computers in the reception area - just saw the areas in passing, but those seemed like nice areas as well and the reviews of the breakfast are excellent.
Although this might be an older property and is less expensive than some, it seems that everyone goes over and above to make it a nice experience staying here. Everything was clean and well-stocked with included amenities that would be extra costs at most hotels (water, parking, internet, refrigerator, breakfast). And, Grace called about fifteen minutes before checkout time offering to give us an extension if we needed it since we hadn't checked out with her yet - very nice communication and so polite and welcoming the whole time we were there.
This is going to be a good option for us in the future if/when we need more maintenance done on our car - it was a really nice stay. « less

Motel is clean; continental breakfast served is decent and has quite a few variety. Next door to hotel is a plaza with lots of restaurant, movies theater and a 24 hours Fitness gym the BW patron can use. Basically it is a no-thrill accommodation for a place to sleep at night, have a good breakfast and head to a productive day of work, as my stays are for business related.

Unfortunately we have to make several trips down to USC Medical and this on of the closest and affordable hotels. It is can actually a fun area to stay because of the chinese influence. Great food with walking distance, movie theatre next door and close to the freeway. The hotel itself is clean and safe, breakfast is good and if you talk to Grace at the desk she can tell you some great dimsum places at the right price. We stayed here several times. « less

It's my 2nd time staying here. A perfect place to stay if you re a foodie hunter like me. I'm from the Bay Area and it seems the food up here gets a little boring sometimes. The rooms here is above average clean. I wouldn't say sparkly clean but it's good enough for me. Bathroom - they have one of those Japanese toilet seats. I've never seen one of those in a hotel in the US before. I love the fact the sink is outside of the bathroom because if someone's taking a shower I can always use the sink without waiting. The shower is spacious and there's enough hot water. I notice there's no lock on the door. A little strange but no biggie for me. The light switch is outside of the bathroom wall it will take some time to get used to. Bed and space - the beds was comfy and better than what I expected. The beds fitted 2 adults. Noise level - (I stayed on the upper floor) in the morning you can hear the conversations outside and door slamming which I was not very happy with. If you're an early riser then that's no problem. Oh the if the next room is showering you can hear the pipes very well. Breakfast - it's free and very basic with toast, juices, coffee, waffle, eggs, bacon, fruits, yogurt, cereal, and porridge. I was good with fruits and yogurts Location - love this location!!! There's a plaza right next door. Lots of Asian cuisine choices. And there's a few shops like Amore, Daiso, AMC movies theater and a few Japanese beauty store. There's a Asian supermarket right across the street and Ralph's next block. It's close to the 10 freeway and its close to other areas too like San Gabriel, Arcadia, Rosemead, etc.
The 2 times I stayed here the front desk service was excellent. My sis had food poisoning on the original the weekend we booked. We checked online to see if we can get dates changed on the day we re suppose check-in and online it clearly stated we cannot have any date changes or cancellation 7 days prior arrival since it was an online special. Then my sis decided to call this Best Western and see what can they do for us. Terrence was very helpful and kindly helped us changed the dates without any penalty fees. I will definitely stay here again for my next foodie trip! « less
