We stayed at the Jazz Hotel in Moscow from the 11th July to the 15th July inclusive. We arrived a Domedodovo airport and caught the Aeroport Express to Paveletskaya. Wow, what an introduction to Moscow, third world at best. If you arrive there, don't catch a taxi, catch the metro. I'm not going into detail just use the metro. Anyway we finally got to the Jazz Hotel with the help of a good samaritan. It's situated in a residential area about 20 minutes or so by metro from Moscow. The hotel is on the ground floor of what was previously a soviet era apartment block. The exterior is unimpressive but the interior is funky and modern. The female staff speak a little English and our Russian is poor but we worked things out.Our room was spacious and comfortable with a reasonable size bathroom and large shower. The bed is king size but the duvet only double but there is a bedspread also and the weather was warm so we made do. As the room is on the ground floor it can be a bit noisy at night but the windows are double glazed so that dulls the noise a bit. The room isn't air conditioned but a fan would be useful, also a safe would be handy too. The Jazz Hotel's website isn't great. My main gripe is the map provided on it. It's totally misleading. We thought that the Varshavskaya metro station was our local station but it appears it's almost impossible to reach from the hotel. The Kashirskaya metro station about 20 minutes by foot in the opposite direction is far more accessible. Jazz, change your map please! If you don't want to use the metro, the taxis booked by the hotel were safe and fairly priced. Going there by taxi is a different matter. My advice- Don't! We didn't have breakfast there so I can't comment The breakfast room is small but okay. Jazz Hotel doesn't provide Visa support. You do that through a company called Academservice. You have to pay for your accomodation in advance but they were efficient, honest and reliable. all in all, we enjoyed our stay there. It's a nice, inexpensive hotel with nice staff with limited English. It's not too far from the centre of Moscow but use the metro when you can and be prepared to walk a bit. We'd stay there again. « less

I have been visiting and staying in this hotel for 4 nights (17/21.10.2011). The hotel is very small and essential: reception and rooms with the possibility to use a common kitchen. That's all. The room are quite big but the internet connection and the offer of TV channels is quite poor. There are no other service available inside (minibar a part), you need to buy your food or other small things you need going to a close shop (150 mt). The receptionist is the only hotel staff "visible" and i think also available because all the reservation and payment are done via internet. I do not know (never tried) if it is possible to pay directly to the receptionist. The area where the hotel is placed is very calm and quite. By taxi you need to give a lot of attention because the hotel is not well signaled; there is a table just in front of the access, the hotel is not placed directly on the road but you need to walk for 50-70 mt inside to get the access. On the other side the price is very interesting (less than 2000 rub per night) and when you need just a bed it is more than enough. « less
