I am frequent traveler and have been in many hotels so am good judge, but I have just decided to start review. This hotel, Fortel offered me a great expereince from top to bottom. The rooms are especially clean and light. The hotel also in good location and was convenient because it was close to city center. The hotel staff were pleasant and co-operative and offered kind words. The food was very good part of my stay at Fortel because it was very tasty. Breakfast buffet was also tasty. I will return soon to Fortel, next time in city. « less

I twice stayed at Fortel in the last 2 months and liked the rooms a lot. Extremely comfortable, good shower and bed. The cleanliness is good and have no complaints. It may be on the expensive side, though falls cheaper to book online rather than walking in or calling the hotel and booking. This hotel is located conveniently in the city, right opposite Egmore railway station. Like any station area in India, some chaos, smell and waste on the streets prevails here also, so those who would be uncomfortable at such a scene outside the hotel walls, do keep in mind. Overall I have a very positive opinion about Fortel.
There is one significant aspect I was unhappy with - the breakfast buffet. Considering the cost aspect, the breakfast buffet was a let down. The variety was quite boring, unlike many hotels' breakfast buffets. Chennai and TN has some great breakfast items that are famous all over. However I was disappointed to see very few of them. The ones that did exist were not of the same standard you are used to in most places in Chennai. The coffee was a big disappointment, which is almost unheard of in Chennai, thanks to the splendid filter coffee being available all over.
But this aside, had a good stay in Fortel. I must specifically point out that the reception and other staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They did their best to take care of all our requests. « less

It is located about 5 minutes walk from Egmore and 10minutes drive from Chennai Central. This is the only plus point if you are reaching Chennai by train/bus.

The hotel is not maintained well. The rooms are not so great for the price. If you need a sound sleep without any disturbance then perhaps this is not nice place as you can hear the trains running and vehicle honking from your room.
My room was not cleaned even after requesting twice. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 7:30am but on all the days of my stay they were not ready even at 8am.
Mosquitos!!!! Everywhere in the lobby and the restaurant. Luckily not in the rooms!

Specially the manager an old lady , she doesn't know to talk with the customer she will use all bad and worst words.
