This property is located across the street from a 24hr. porn book store and it is really filthy. The good was that a room on Saturday night was only $58 but i got about 15 bed bug bites on my arm and back. I really freaked and made sure i left my suitcase outside when i got home so i would not infect my house with these horrible insects. Stay in your rental car or out in the desert....It will be much nicer. « less

I did a last-minute booking of this hotel after reading about it and decided to ditch my reservation at the Motel 6 at the south end of the strip. I am so glad I made that decision. I was checked in from Saturday night to Friday night. If you're used to budget traveling and you're without kids, you'll be ok.
The Econo Lodge sign it still up; the hotel's current name is nowhere to be seen on a sign. The front desk clerks answer using the new name. The location is at Charleston and Las Vegas Boulevard. Its is a block north of the Welcome to Downtown Las Vegas sign and at the northern edge of the string of motels, wedding chapels, tattoo parlors and local bars and eateries that begins where the Stratosphere ends. A Walgreens and a 7-Eleven are at the corner to take care of your basic needs.
If you take the Deuce north, get off at 4th Street (where it splits left from LV Blvd.). If you go to the Arts District stop, you'll have a longish walk to the south. The southbound Deuce stop is between the hotel and 7-Eleven. Get the 3-day pass since the Deuce C R A W L S down the strip (you'd never do a round trip from end to end in 2 hours) and for $20, you have access to any bus line in the city.
The lobby is updated and inviting. Coffee is available 24/7 and is tasty enough. There are comfortable chairs for people waiting to check in or using the internet. Internet access, for me at least, was available only in the lobby area. Access was spotty and there were times when I'd give up and just go back to my room and use my smart phone instead.
All rooms are accessed from the outside. The building is two stories. There are a variety of rooms available. I heard, only heard, that there are suites with multiple bathrooms. Whod've thought? I had a single queen room built for that purpose. My room was not updated, but completely furnished. The a/c worked mightily and constantly; the hum was soothing. The two sitting chairs had liquid stains on the seat cushions. I can attest that housekeeping washes all bed linens, bedspreads included. I never turned on the CRT TV.
The bathroom was tight in space. There was plenty of counter space. You have towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and tissues in decent supply. The shower had hot water; sometimes you had to run it a while to get hot, sometimes not. The tub drained a little slow, and things were a little slippery when water remained in the tub.
Housekeeping was adequate. There were a couple of days when they didn't visit, but I was there for the week. When they did, they made the bed, emptied trashed and restocked supplies.
I used the pool a few times. It's in an enclosure street-side. You get a view of boulevard traffic and pedestrians. The water felt good.
The location is great because you are a mile's walk from Fremont Street. You can do the walk no problem. Think about it, you're going to drink once you're there, anyway, right? The Deuce can get you to the south end of the strip; anything between the hotel and the Stratosphere is walkable. After that, take the bus and take it easy on your feet. As for sketchy people, I didn't see many. The two gentlemen at the Deuce stop one night who were yelling at each other were yelling at each other. The more mobile of the two actually said, "you're alright, man," to me. You may encounter someone sleeping on the sidewalk (or just off it) or a bit of vomit or other liquids in the gutter, but who's to say that wouldn't happen on the Strip or on the Deuce.
Stay here. I saw plenty of guests come and go while I was there. The hotel does care about its rooms. I heard a maintenance man speak of fumigating rooms while I was in the lobby. You may think fumigating is a bad thing, but consider the alternative. « less

Right on the Strip, but in between of the fancy and old part. The room and even the bathroom were clean, but the towels were already used before. Swimming pool was suprisingly clean. One big plus - there is a Deuce stop just infront of the area. Btw. there are some people who live there permanently, interesting to talk with them... « less

I stayed for 5 nights while attending a convention in Las Vegas. The motel was clean, the desk clerks were very responsive, and I felt quite safe in the area. Strongly recommend it as a widow traveling alone. Inexpensive but quite adequate. « less
