Over the weekend, my husband and I stayed at this Days Inn. I thought we could get a cheaper price outside of Monterey. When I got there, I was concerned with the highway noise, but it ended up not being much of a problem. The rooms were clean and the beds were in pretty good condition. There was an average breakfast but the room in the lobby was too small for everyone so we took our food back to our room. The lady at the front desk showed us directions to Monterey, which was helpful. Overall it was a nice stay for the cost. « less

Horrible place. I booked a last minute hotel for Labor day weekend through price line. Granted, when you book on price line you don't expect anything fancy and I wasn't. But I was traveling with my mom and my two kids and was hoping that they'd either give me a two queen bed room, or at least a roller bed, which most hotels provide with no problem at all. However, I was told, NO, NO, NO. It was my problem for booking on price line and they had only ONE roller bed, and they already lent it. No apologies, no sympathy, purely, oops, too bad. The older woman who claimed herself as the manager had no manners, was screaming at me with crazy hand gestures, and even threatened to call the police! For what?! A guest who is requesting a roller bed? Overall very, very unpleasant experience.
I'd say if you consider customer service as of some value to you stay away from this place. They don't care about their customers and just want to take your money. Respect yourself, and stay at a different place « less

During August 2012 we stayed at the Days Inn in Salinas , by the airport. The place is run by the owner. Has very poor communication skills, bad manners and is downright rude. The 32 room motel sits next a freeway which can be heard all day and night. There's no pool. Continental breakfast included muffins, cerial, coffee ( is OK). They charge extra $10 if you ask for 2 beds or King bed. Avoid this place. We had to go several times back to the desk to to reprogram the room keys cause could not open the room. There are several other motels adjacent to it including Motel 6 which I'm sure would be a better experience. « less

Days Inn will never see another dime from me ever again.
Their cancellation policy reads: "There will be no credit or refund for early departures, cancellations, no shows, or changes in your reservation for any reason. Guests will not receive any refund or credit."
So they took my money, and their policy sounds an awful lot like saying "you paid for it, the room is yours on those dates, no changes" to me. That is understandable and fine. But apparently, that is not the case. Long story short, I did not go on the first day, nor did I call. When I called the third day, when I was going to officially cancel the trip and maybe see if I might be able to get a couple days back, they told me they had sold my room on the second day, which meant I did not even have a chance to salvage any of my trip at all.
I could understand if they just took my money and whether or not I used it, I had the room available to me.
Something reasonable would be if I ate the cost of the days I didn't use before it was able to get sold, but got refunded for any days that were sold that overlapped my reservation.
I do not get how they could take and keep my money as if I already accepted the room, then, because I didn't call them that first day (why should I when I completely accepted their terms and thought the room as purchased with no going back?), sell it again the next day and not even have that room available to me, should my vacation have been salvageable. They're going to have a strict cancellation policy, but no mention that they're allowed to sell it the next day if they don't get a call and they also get to keep all my money? That's a pretty big detail to leave out for a company with a strict cancellation policy.
If I at least had the room available to me or one of my friends, and knowing there is no refund, I ate the cost, I find that acceptable. For them to cancel, then sell what should've been my room is just plain unethical. Not even a call before they canceled my reservation.
For the cherry on top, when I made this reservation, I definitely unchecked the can-we-send-you-spam? box, and yet they spam my email as if I accepted. Thanks for the salt on the wound.
I do not take kindly to having my money taken with no product in return, especially after working 3 consecutive weeks/weekends of non-stop 12+ hour work days just prior to the vacation that was canceled because I was exhausted, ill, and apparently if that weren't enough, Days Inn thought it'd be ok to take my money and sell my room the next day. I will see to it that none of my family and friends ever put another cent into this company. « less
