I've stayed here twice in the past 6 months, both times I asked for a first floor smoking suite. The first time I was assured this would be fine over the phone twice, arrived at hotel, no first floor suite available. I arrived around 5pm and had to wait over an hour for the room to be cleaned, at least I was accommodated this time. Stayed last night, requested first floor smoking room again. When I checked in I was put on the second floor, so I told the girl at the desk who looked like she had gotten into a fight with her eyeliner (and lost) I requested first floor, she said "oh I don't have any request from you" it was on my confirmation copy ... not sure why she couldn't see it. Then she told me they don't have any first floor smoking with two double beds, they must have moved the two double beds out of the suite I had in November. The second floor "suite" with a "full kitchen" had no silverware except a butter knife, no pots & pans. The appliances and furniture are out of badly out of date. The light over the sink did not work. It really is a nice property, they need some staff that actually gives a care about what is going on there! « less

Dear RickG668,
I do apoligize you did not get the room you requested before arriving. We do have a limited number of smoking rooms at the hotel. We are the only hotel in the Greetree area that have smoking rooms left. Pots and pans are available upon request now, this is also stated on our Choice Hotels website. You should have had silverware in your room and I will speak to our Executive Housekeeper regarding this. When you are in the Pittsburgh area please give us a call we would enjoy having you as a guest in the near future!
Sincerely,

First the positives: The staff is excellent, and when I called to confirms late arrival, I was able to talk with an actual person at the hotel, not a call center. Big plus. Checking was efficient and fast. Each room is in its own little "townhouse" which is fun.
The suite itself was adequate, but had some issues. The bed ruffle was stained. The bar stools in the kitchen were filthy, and the whole place just needed a good cleaning. The light in the fridge and above the stove were both burned out. The toilet seat was loose and the toilet didn't flush completely the first three times. Door handles were loose, cupboards were worn and dated; the whole place felt like a cheap rental unit.
Having said that, it was a decent price for a single night. I just wouldn't want to make it my home for more than a day or two, which is the point of a suite. The whole place just needs some basic updating and maintenance. It could be a hidden gem, but as it is it's just adequate. « less

Dear BehindTheCamera,
Thank you for your recent review! I will make sure housekeeping is aware of your situation with your room. We have been working on a Deep Cleaning Program/Preventative Maintenance Plan but not all of the rooms are complete and this will be an endless battle with guests who stay on a long term basis. We hope the next time you are in Pittsburgh you will stay with us again!

We stayed here at the Quality Suites this past Saturday. While we live in the general area we decided to stay "in town" after an annual gathering of a club we're involved in.
I have to say that the hotel is due for a facelift, all of the furnishings in the room are outdated and old. The desk chair had tears, the couch (sits very low to floor) is "stained" a little and cushions pretty old. The mattress is old and worn and not very comfortable. The fixtures were all old and worn looking. After saying all this i also have to add that the room was clean for the most part ... the room being clean and the staff being friendly is what makes this hotel get a three star in my opinion. If the room was dirty or staff rude I would rate the hotel a ONE. If they would make some updates to the furnishings and fixtures this would be a very nice property. « less

A friend and I flew to Pittsburgh to for a concert and needed an affordable place that we could just crash for a couple of nights. The time we did spend in the room it was bitter sweet. It was a cool place, like your own little appartment with ammenities like a fridge, counter, stove, microwave, ect, but it was all a little outdated. The lighting in the bathroom (coming from a girls POV) wasn't ideal. There were gum wrappers behind bedside table and the room was a little dusty. Our room was quite a ways away from the lobby so we had to run in the freezing cold to breakfast, which was very good and the breakfast attendent was extremely sweet and welcoming. We took advantage of their shuttle service a couple of times and that was super conveient and the driver was very friendly. Overall stay wasn't bad for the price. « less
