6 Columbus, designed by the acclaimed Steven Sclaroff is evocative of the mod 1960s design aesthetic infused with 21st century sensibility. Each one of the hotel’s 88 rooms has a flat-panel plasma-screen TV,iPod docking station, and broadband Internet connections. Teak and chrome run throughout the furnishings creating an overall sense of sleekness. The hotel will showcase works from one of the world’s most respected fashion photographers, Guy Bourdin. Topping off the townhouse style building will be a pair of penthouses, over 1,000-square-feet each, with double-height ceilings, fireplaces, and kitchens. “The idea here is to be funky but rich,” says Pomeranc, citing a pony-skinned elevator as an example of 6 Columbus’s merging sensibilities.
