I only stayed in this hotel for two nights, but it delivered everything I needed: nice sized room, good (and immaculately clean) bathroom facilities, and very reasonably priced. The reason is gets 4 stars instead of 3 is because of the great internet connection and speed. I find this to be a highly underrated feature for most "budget" motels.
The location was a bit problematic, because it was not exactly in the downtown Philadelphia area. However, it's about a 20 minute walk from City Hall, so it's not exactly poorly located.
I would absolutely stay at this place again the next time I'm in Philadelphia. « less

Spent 2 nights there during a graduation. Busy weekend in the area. Crew racing event. Susan B. Anthony event that basically shut down the surrounding streets. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Hotel is dated and a bit worn. Toilet seat was loose. Hair dryer switch did not work properly. These items were mentioned to the friendly staff and I'm sure will be addressed. The room was fine for a place to spend the night and I would consider returning given its great location. « less

We stayed in the Best Western Center City hotel for 2 nights in April 2013. We stayed in room 303 (top floor) which had two double beds, perfect for us (mother/adult daughter). We used the hotel as a base to explore Philadelphia. It was a great location, all the best sights could be walked to or they were a bus ride away (bus stop across the road from the hotel). The beds were really comfortable and the curtains were thick (which helped us acclimatise to US-time!) I've stayed in cleaner hotels, the room was generally quite dusty but given the price ( cheaper than a lot of other hotels for April) this was something I could put up with, especially as we were out of the room all day/evening. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel (because we wanted to experience a US diner) which was in walking distance from the hotel.
The desk staff could have been more helpful, they were happy to provide us with maps, but told us it was impossible to travel to the south east quarter of Philly by bus (where the oldest famous Philly cheese steaks can be purchased) and that a taxi was the only option. This was not the case at all, as we found out for ourselves by walking and asking the locals.
I would use the hotel again if I returned to Philadelphia without question though. if you're looking for a no-frills comfy bed for a couple of nights, this is the place for you. « less

Thank you very muvh for taking your time to write a review of your most recent stay at the Best Western Center City Hotel. I appreciate your kind comments on your experience and We share your thoughts on your nice stay with our Team Members. I appreciate the nice words on our location and comfortable beds and overall good value for your money. I have already spoken to our Executive Housekeeper about the "dust" comments and will ensure all rooms are properly cleaned. While it is possible to get anywhere by bus in Philadelphia, sometimes a person must get on multiple buses and there is always a possiblility of getting lost, so then we recommend a taxi as the most direct route. Thanks again for the nice review and comments and we welcome you back again to our hotel. Sincerely Yours Robert Jaeger CHA General Manager

We chose this for it's location. However, we would definitely go back for the staff! From the moment we arrived all staff was friendly. They all took the time to speak to my 2 yo, as well as answer any questions we had!! I have so much respect for the wonderful women at the restaurant who served breakfast. There were 2 incidences of VERY rude customers, so rude I was steaming. The two women continued to be nice, as well as fulfilled the customers needs. Meanwhile I wanted to dump the food on their laps for their rudeness. It was a basic room with some old decor. The only negative was they wanted to charge $15 a night for a fridge. Would have been so nice to just have one for my toddlers drinks. « less
