My weekend rate for one person with a bath was about $75 (including taxes). This is a good rate for a hotel in downtown Los Angeles, If you get a room without a bathroom it is less. (There were communal toilets and showers in the hallway.)
My room and the small bathroom were very basic, but clean. It would be nice if they would rearrange the furniture to include a chair and a usable desk or table. The staff was friendly and professional.
I did not try the breakfast bar, but there was plenty of food and it was a good opportunity for the guests (who mostly seemed to be young tourists) to hang out together.
If you are not familiar with downtown Los Angeles, the Cecil is on the edge of the commercial part of downtown and adjacent to Skid Row. There are plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants west of the hotel along Spring Street and Seventh Street, but it gets sketchy if you go east. Be very careful if you go out at night.
I thought it was a good deal, and I would definitely stay there again. « less

To start with I get a room which had a latch lock which was barely holding together, the room could hardly fit a bed in the room. The room said shared bathroom, but the smell and cleanliness of the room and the shared bathroom was terrible. The bathroom didn't had the amenities. The flush wasn't working for the bathroom. « less

1. My room was old, ill maintained, small, and uncomfortable. The heater did not work, the bathroom was really small and once you take a shower everything gets soaked. 2. WiFi is only available around front desk and mezzanine, there is no WiFi in the rooms. Everything gets crowded downstairs and the Internet gets amazingly slow. 3. The people at the front desk are not at all friendly. They were not helpful when asked for a late check out since the elevators weren't working and I was on a 9th floor, and also they were reluctant on giving me the restroom's key. 4. The elevators did not work for a coupe of days. 5. Location is OK. They are pretty close to the financial district, and they also have complimentary continental breakfast. The people at the breakfast lounge are very friendly.
