The Morrison-Clark Historic Inn is perfectly located in the middle of Washington D.C. We walked everywhere, and only took a taxi to Georgetown. We had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant which was very good. I especially like the cheese grits and steal cut oatmeal for breakfast. The room was spacious, with a bedroom and sitting room, overlooking the street. The bathroom was dated, but had a wide, circular shower head, which was nice. The towels where big, the room was clean, and there was a coffee machine in the room. The service was very prompt, and the staff was helpful with directions, cabs, etc. It was a lovely place, and we would return. « less

I was attending a conference at the convention center and booked this hotel because of the convenient location and cost. I wasn't expecting too much since its an "inn" and I'm used to staying at the bigger hotel chains, but I was pleasantly surprised. This historic inn was very quaint and stunning! The staff was MORE than friendly and overly helpful! And I probably had the BEST scallops I've ever tasted in the restaurant. My room was also in the basement, like another reviewer stated, but it faced out to the street. I did have to keep my shades closed all the time, but considering the location, the room itself was extremely quiet. The room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was a great size and bed was comfortable. I didn't lose any sleep in this room, thats for sure!! Housekeeping came around in the evening and offered free water and chocolates, too!!
I definitely plan on coming back to this inn with my husband. The atmosphere is so comfortable and romantic, I can't imagine staying anywhere else! « less

I found the Morrison Clark to be quite good all around - a shirt taxi ride from the main train station, close to the city centre, nice rooms, friendly staff. We had a problem one day with realising that our window wasn't actually lockable, so we asked to put our valuables in the safe - the safe was tiny and didn't fit anything so we had to try our luck - nothing went missing. The only issue I had here (actually two) was the price of rooms - perhaps a little too expensive - and the credit card hold - this was much more than expected so I wasn't aware what the charge was... a $20 phone call to the bank at home took me to work it out! If I was o return to Washington I would certainly consider staying here again. « less

First, please don't be deceived by their listing a fitness facility. If you want a treadmill or exercise bike or some free weights, you are in luck; otherwise, not so. Also, the rooms are barely adequate. The bed was comfortable but my bathroom consisted of three connected little rooms (toilet, sink and shower/bath) with only one light bulb at the sink. No fun to shower in the semi-dark. Also TV is in a separate room from the bed. All in all, fairly shabby, but decent location and moderate price. « less

I booked this hotel on the back of positive reviews. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, an historic hotel in DC and completely different to the chain hotels. On arrival the service was terrible, rude staff- gave no information about the hotel (where the restuarant is/times/amenities/ etc). My room was in the basement looking at the internal courtyard which meant for privacy I had to keep my blackout curtains pulled down which meant the room was always dark. In the evenings diners from the restuarant sit out in the courtyard and make noise (as they would obviously do) which meant for a non-peaceful sleep. On check-out I found out there was a gym and other facilities to use. I felt like due to the bad service I didn't get as much out of this hotel I could have done. « less
