You can't beat the Mar de Cortez for the money. Yes it's an old hotel but they keep it up pretty well. Just don't expect any luxury amenities. But you will feel you stepped back in time. The pool is great and you can even spot some Geckos on the walls. The restaurant in the hotel (Baja Peppers) is outstanding too. « less

if you want all the pampering this is not the place BUT it is an old mexican hotel in the heart of cabo. expect the basics,, very clean, very convenient location, can walk just about everywhere in downtown cabo. there is secure parking which is a big plus for us. the pool area is nice, small homey restaurant and bar with good food. we stayed there twice in the last 6wks and manage to do so usually once yearly. never disappointed. worth a try « less

Visited Cabo March 2013 (from Canada) and stayed at the Mar de Cortez for 2 weeks. The room was a good size and was clean, mostly quiet and excellent value. The hotel is an older hotel but has been renovated and maintained well and the food in the Peppers restaurant is both excellent and reasonable. We were really pleased with the location as it is handy to Playa Medano as well as the beaches on the south of the town, lots of restaurants, the marina and shopping. The bus stops for catching the local buses to the beaches to the north of the town are also fairly close by. Anna and the staff on the front desk were so helpful and the housekeeping staff were all very friendly. Towels and linens were clean and of good quality. Hot water was always available for showers. The fridge came in handy and you can buy a bag of ice at the bar! « less
