The staff is friendly and willing to serve but that doesn´t help at the time of using the facilities of the hotel. The hotel needs a good decoration or they are just careless about it. I arrived with my family at 11pm last May/2/2013 so I didn´t have any other option but to stay there. Our room was at the 5th floor which smelled like cigarrete smoke. The rooms had the same lame taste in decoration. Our room had a very nive view but it was very small. If you are claustrophobic do not come here. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The coffe was burned, the jam was the cheapest they could find and the meal was tasteless. They dind´t have lactose free milk for me. The staff was nice but clumsy. Next day the complimentary breakfast was not a surprise. They served scrambled eggs with whatever they had ready. Coffe tasteless again. « less

I got a good deal on the HoJo at Villahermosa airport, including airport transfer which would have cost me $18. The hotel is in an ideal location in the Zona Luz, very safe to walk around at night. I'm used to budget hotels, but I was very disappointed in this hotel. The staff at the front desk couldn't have cared less. The room was small, dark and in need of some updating. The main light and power point which worked in the evening, no longer worked in the morning so I had to pack by bedside lamp. There was a puddle of water in the bathroom. The electronic safe didn't work, and when I asked about it I had to leave an $18 deposit for a key. However the bed was comfy and the sheets clean. « less

We recently drove from Mexico City to the Costa Maya (1500 km!) and needed a place to stop for a night on our way to the beach and back. Villahermosa is about midway and a large city, so it made sense to look for a hotel there. We used Priceline to book and ended up at the HoJo for $35/night on both nights.
Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, we didn't expect much of it -- rightly so -- but it wasn't bad either.
The hotel is centrally located and wasn't too difficult to find (it's a couple kilometers from the federal highway). We arrived quite late the first night and could only find a VIPS restaurant nearby to have dinner. We made it earlier on our way back to Mexico City, and had a nice evening walk in the surroundings, enjoying the zócalo and having a few tacos nearby. The hotel offers valet parking for no charge, and on both occasions we didn't have to wait more than five minutes to get the car.
The service was ok, but not the friendliest we've seen in Mexico. On both occasions, the rooms were very simple and old-looking -- don't expect any luxury. However, they were clean, the mattresses were surprisingly good and the air conditioning worked properly, so we had a good sleep. Wi-fi Internet was supposedly available, but the signal was too weak to use it in the rooms. The small safe didn't work on both occasions.
We didn't try the restaurant, but it looked fine. Breakfast wasn't included in our rate, and costed 150 pesos for the buffet. We found it quite expensive and went elsewhere.
Since we only needed a room to spend the night and leave immediately the next day, we couldn't really complain about our stay at the HoJo. Still, should we return to Villahermosa, we would probably spend a bit more to stay at a better place. « less

In each case, the rooms were slightly tired looking, but clean, quiet, and acceptably comfortable. Airconditioning functioned acceptably; in room safe was not working in either room. Wireless internet was slow-ish but worked OK. Staff were fairly indifferent, but polite and helpful when asked for anything. Did not try the restaurant. Overall the hotel met our needs. « less

The staff didn't know my transactions, they said somebody else knew about vouchers because they were in a diffrent schedule, every day we had to activate the internet.
