Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express down the block. Wanted a quick dinner. Cheeseburger was nice and club sandwich nice. Skip the french fries (tasted like they were old and refried tobwarm up). Instead order the side salad. Yummy. Fresh lettuce, beats, and red cabbage slaw with a tart vinegrette. Salad made the meal! « less

I had the pleasure of staying in Montreal this past weekend at the Days Inn Downtown on Renee-Levesque Blvd. I had booked two separate rooms for a one-night stay for a concert in town. I would like to extend my thanks to the staff who made this trip very pleasant and comfortable! I must admit, based on previous experiences in downtown Montreal discounted hotels, I had very low expectations. Last summer, I stayed in a different hotel and I can easily say it was the worst experience yet. In comparison, the Days Inn Downtown Montreal was excellent! I would like to commend the staff for their friendliness and professionalism. I was greeted by a younger lady upon arrival, who was able to let us check-in to one of the rooms much earlier than expected. This was on top of the fact that she was able to accommodate us with adjoining rooms!! The rooms were small and dated but it was all we needed for our one night stay in a busy downtown area. There is so much to see and do in this part of the city, there isn't much need to spend time in the rooms! We stayed on the 3rd floor, where there is an ice machine outside the elevator. There was zero view, but again, to be expected when you pay so little. Later in the evening, we asked the gentleman at the desk for restaurant ideas nearby the concert venue, he was also able to call a van cab for our group. This, in my opinion, was very kind of him! Also note that this hotel is very very close to our favourite night spot in Montreal, a rock music club with very cheap drinks called "Fou Founes Electriques" on St. Catharine street. The hotel is around the corner!
When I checked out for the two rooms, I ended up paying even less than I had been quoted, which made me very happy. The parking fee is also very fair considering the downtown location of the hotel!
Thanks again, we will be returning to this quaint, unassuming spot in Montreal very soon. « less

So, booked this hotel through Hotwire. Didn't have any choice when I booked. Price was great. . Hotel was easy to find. I guess I'm not an especially picky person. But I've stayed at 3 1/2 star hotels in NY and 4 star Hotels in Boston. and this place was actually more comfortable and quiet than the others. I got there on Fri afternoon (1330) and was afraid (after reading other reviews) that I wouldn't be able to get parking or check in early. Neither was the case. Pulled over on the side street and went in and no problems checking in. They told me it was 20 dollars a day for parking and was valet. Now, here is where I am shocked. At the people giving negative reviews that is. First this hotel is in a major city downtown. If you go to NY you are going to pay around 30-50 dollars, Boston 25-30 $, and New Orleans 25$. ( Yes, I have been to all). So. I don't think it is that bad of a price to pay. Hotel staff were friendly. Room was basic, but did include a large TV and Refig. Soap provided was a little dry. The only noise I heard was in the AM when the people next door were getting ready to go out, but that was OK, because I was getting ready to head out myself. All in all, nice comfortable, in-expensive place to crash for a weekend. « less
