Local Attractions
Western District was one of the first trading areas in Hong Kong and has retained a lot of its traditions, giving visitors a taste of “old Hong Kong”. It is home to many speciality shops not seen elsewhere in the territory. Old Chinese furniture, antiques of all kinds, Chinese painting and calligraphy supplies, Chinese incense, many types of preserved foods, and much more can be found throughout this old neighbourhood. One of Hong Kong's oldest areas, where the modern history of the island started.Belcher's Street behind the hotel was named after Edward Belcher, a British Navy officer who surveyed the harbour of Hong Kong in 1841, the year that Hong Kong Island was first occupied by the British. As this area is not as developed as the Central business district nearby, you will see many traditional shops and have a chance to experience the local way of life in Hong Kong. Hop onto a tram just a minute's walk from the hotel and enjoy a nostalgic ride witnessing Hong Kong's past, present and future
